Yup. I had to go to the doctor's office AGAIN yesterday, They drew blood (Which hurts like a BITCH) and it turns out, I DO in fact have Mononucleosis... called "mono" or "the kissing disease," (Good thing Cliff isn't here) an infection usually caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV is very common, and many people have been exposed to the virus at some time in childhood. Not everyone who is exposed to EBV develops the symptoms of mono, though. As with many viruses, it is possible to be exposed to and infected with EBV without becoming sick. (Apparently, I wasn't so lucky) People who have been infected with EBV will carry the virus for the rest of their lives even if they never have any signs or symptoms of mono. People who do show symptoms of having mono probably will not get sick or have symptoms again. What does that mean? I have a wicked-annoying, less -itchy, non-rash version of chicken pox. (I had those as a kid too... and a scar to prove it) ISN'T THAT FUN!? Oh, and apparently, I've had this for 4-6 weeks BEFORE I showed any of the symptoms... and I can have it for 3-7 weeks after all the symptoms go away, so that's fun... BEWARE!
I'm currently on Amoxicillin (an antibiotic. for a virus. seriously, WTF?!) Which I have to take 2 times a day (and they're the size of horse pills, no lie) Methylprednisolone, which I have to take in bulk, 6 the first day, 5 the next (today) then 4, 3 and so on... an alternation of Tylenol with Acetaminophen and Motrin, taken every 4 hours. Soooo... I'm really drugged up right now. WOO!
On a better note

surprised me with a phone call yesterday! It was a little staticy, and I admit at first I couldn't tell it was him because he sounded weird, but after a moment it cleared up and we were able to talk for about 15 minutes. It wasn't very long, but I felt a lot better than I had in the past week.
School
So I've been out of school for a week, and even though I feel better, it's possible that I'll be out for another week, depending on how long I'm contagious... hopefully that doesn't mean I've just thrown away this semester (you're only allowed to miss so many classes) but my dad thinks they'll make an exception, especially considering that Mono is really not something you want spread. I REALLY don't want to lose an entire semester because of this stupid thing. That would make me royally pissed off.
Work
I've called in sick to work twice now, and I'm hoping I don't lose my job either. Considering I have the college version of the Chicken Pox I'm hoping they'll make an exception. It's not like I'm LAZY or anything. I'm just sick and would rather not infect everyone within the building. That's actually a good thing, isn't it?

Devious Comments
But it's not surprising they would give you those for mono. It's a good all-around antibiotic. Other than that, I do hope you're feeling better at some point soon. And I'm sure if you explain it to your boss they'll be ok with it. I don't know about where you work, but at EXPRESS if you're out for that long and you have a doctor's note you're good.
On another note, if you need a SARS mask I can get one for you! Both Dave and my mom work at hospitals
Oh, another question. Are your parents still interested in a kitty or did you already get another? Because, depending on whether or not my living situation changes before september (roommate issues) I may be bringing my kitties out over the summer. But I'm definitely heading back to Florida to visit at some point, so if you want Luna i can arrange to bring her back with me. I recent pictures of her now too if you want those.

But here, not going to work/school due to disease comes under your own duty of care, and if they fire/fail you is considered unfair dismissal and a breach of the OHS Act. This means it can be taken to the high courts.
So if they make a fuss of it, I would throw the OHS Act 1984 at them, but then that's only good if you're living in Australia.
... sorry, I just finished a course as the elected Health and Safety Representative for my workplace. XD I spent a whole week learning all the legislation.
